Bandhu

Bandhu

providing a platform of opportunities to workers, employers, landlords and middlemen through a digital marketplace.

About

Bandhu is a social enterprise that aims to make the process of urbanisation more equitable and sustainable. It does so by maximizing transparency in the rural-to-urban migration decisions and thus empowering the otherwise vulnerable migrant workers. Its digital platforms--the Bandhu mobile app and IVR--connect workers with jobs and housing simultaneously. Low-income employers/MSMEs also benefit by getting access to skilled workers on time, and housing providers get access to a stream of reliable tenants. Most importantly, Bandhu empowers migrant workers to decide whether it is even worthwhile to leave their native villages.
