The Better Design Foundation’s sanitation initiative is focussed on shifting the culture of WASH through the design of a compact, operationally sustainable community sanitation centre - with decentralized sewage management and a greywater recycling system that reduces freshwater consumption by 40%. We believe that this initiative can serve as a model for interventions working to eliminate open defecation and, at scale, tackle the individual and community level healthcare and social development challenges stemming from poor sanitation access.
